Sonnox Dynamics for vocals?
Does the Sonnox Dynamics work as a non destructive compressor on Vocals?

The Sonnox Compressor (Dynamics) is very dope! I use it’s non-destructive/real time on a tdm system and on my LE system. Too many of them on a LE system could, depending on computer power be problematic becuase the plug in needs a good amount of power. To get around this I can use the Audiosuite version which will apply the settings of the plug in to the audio file itself. I can just duplicate the playlist (to keep the original exactly as-is. Tweak the compression on the real time version until I think it’s good then I Audiosuite the file.

Don’t forget to save the compressor setting before taking it off, that way if you need to re-tweak, you have both the original file (in the other playlist) and the original compressor setting. Now, if I ever want to go back to the original, I can change the playlist and copy the audio I need to adjust, then flip back and paste. This way I can tweak the compressor setting more since I saved it earlier.

Or, I can duplicate the track and find the new area that needs work, edit out everything before and after the part that needs work, then separate and mute the part that needs work on the original track.

It should look like this:

Top Track:

Already Audiosuite’d track

Bottom Track:

Duplicated track, which has been flipped back to the original playlist, then insert the same compressor with the saved setting.

Recall the Comp setting that we used to Audiosuite and the second track, now loop it a bar or two before the parts that need work and a bar or two after, then tweak the comp settings until it sounds good in context and in relation to what is going on. Then simply process the new audio file and drop it back on the main vocal track.
